Mount Kilimanjaro – Brief Overview
Mount Kilimanjaro, located in northern Tanzania, is the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It is a dormant stratovolcano with three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Kilimanjaro is famous for its snow-capped peak, which rises dramatically above the surrounding savannah.
The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and attracts thousands of climbers and trekkers from around the world each year. Despite its equatorial location, its summit features glaciers and ice fields, although these have been retreating due to climate change.
Kilimanjaro holds great cultural and ecological significance and is a symbol of Tanzania’s natural beauty and adventure tourism.
